The COF Counseling Center is committed to providing comprehensive counseling services to its members and attendees, as well as the local community. 

 

Our goal is to address the needs of the whole person: physically, emotionally, and spiritually, bringing hope and healing to every client.  Whatever your specific need, our counselors are trained and ready to walk with you on your journey.

TYPES OF COUNSELING OFFERED

Individual Counseling
Individual Counseling may include any or all of the following:  gaining a new perspective on relationships, learning how to cope better with stress, breaking bad habits, processing past trauma, and developing skills to handle future problems.

Marriage Counseling
Marriage counseling is focused on resolving conflicts effectively and building stronger communication and relationship skills.  Whether you're facing divorce or looking to take your marriage to the next level, marriage counseling can help you and your loved one take the next right step.  We also provide premarital counseling. 

 


Child and Adolescent Counseling

Our counselors are trained to help your child or teenager walk through the difficult transitions of early life.  Using techniques such as play therapy and sand tray therapy as well as basic relationship skills training, our counselors are trained to help your child grow into maturity and wellness.

 

 

Family Counseling
The focus of family counseling is to build a stronger family dynamic.  Topic addressed include: better communication skills, dealing with conflict, setting healthy boundaries with your children, and/or learning to live as a blended family.

 

WORK SHOPS

MARRIAGE & FAMILY WORKSHOPS

COF Marriage and Family Workshops are designed to bring specific teaching to larger groups of people.  Some examples of workshop topics include:  Raising Your Kids in the Digital Age, Raising Teenagers, and Love and Respect in Your Marriage.  These workshops are offered periodically onsite at Community of Faith on weekends and weeknights.  Offsite workshops can be structured and customized to fit the specific needs of your organization.

SUPPORT GROUPS

ADDICTION RECOVERY

 

The Addiction Recovery Group meets in the Counseling Center on Wednesday nights at 7:00PM.  This group exists to help those that struggle with addictions to alcohol, drugs, or other addictive behaviors.  This group is the first step towards finding wholeness and wellness and will help resource you with all you need for a full recovery. There is no cost to attend this group. 

CODEPENDENCY RECOVERY

 

The Codependency Recovery Group meets in the Walkers-2’s building right next door to the Counseling Center on Wednesday nights at 7:00PM.  This group exists to help its members break cycles of codependency with family members and loved ones while learning how to set healthy boundaries for the days ahead. There is no cost to attend this group.

ADDITIONAL SUPPORT GROUPS

In addition, therapeutic groups are provided throughout the year at various times. Topics include: Grief, Divorce, Finances, Marriage, and Codependency. CLICK HERE to see what is available now.

 

 
 

MEET OUR COUNSELORS

Jennifer Uherek

LCSW, DCSW

Psychotherapist

Jennifer Uherek is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Texas, as well as a Diplomat in Clinical Social Work.  Jennifer provides a range of counseling services, including individual, marriage, family and group counseling.  She uses CBT, CT, BT, DBT, Gestalt, Body-Centered, Mindfulness and EMDR therapy, and she specializes in trauma work.  Jennifer has been on staff with COF since March 2014.

Chris Norman, M. Div.

Graduate Counselor

Chris Norman has 15 years of experience as a Children’s Pastor and joined the COF Counseling Center as a Graduate Counselor in 2016. Chris is working on his license in Marriage and Family Therapy through Liberty University.  Chris does individual, premarital, marriage, and family counseling, and is a certified Prepare/Enrich facilitator.  He has a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.  Chris has been on staff with COF since May 2011.

Dick Hill

Care Pastor

Dick Hill has served in some of the largest churches across America for over the past 40 years.  His life led him, because of personal loss, to have a passion for people in crisis. In 2009, his focus changed from music to caring for others and his role as the Care Pastor at Community of Faith began in May 2014. His responsibilities include pastoral counseling, funerals, weddings, and hospital visitation. 

Donna Binder, M. Ed. Counseling

Licensed Professional Counselor Intern #81139

Supervised by Debbie Edmunds, M.A., L.P.C-S #16682

Donna Binder is a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern under the supervision of Debbie Edmunds, M.A., L.P.C.-S #16682. She received her Masters of Education in Counseling from Prairie View A&M University. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Applied Music (piano) and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Counseling from Lamar University. She is also proficient in Signed English and has been a Special Education Teacher and Counselor for many years.
